Maggiano's (multiple visits)...

Welcome to my favorite restaurant in Nashville! It is called Maggiano's. It is a southern Italian restaurant with amazing food! There are two ways you can eat there. One way is to order ala carte off of the menu. Personally, I like eating family style. You can get two of anything on the menu(except chefs choice items)for each course, and it's all for the whole table to share. For your first course you get salads and appetizers. My family's favorites are the spinach and chopped salads and stuffed mushrooms and calamari. We ave sampled several other apps and salads, and they are all really good.

Now for the main course! You can pick a pasta and an entree. My favorite food EVER is one of the pastas. It is the chicken spinach manicotti! You might not think you would like it because it has spinach in it, but it doesn't matter because it is just AMAZING!!!!! I let my family decide on the other pasta because I don't care a lot as long as I get the manicotti! For an entree my personal favorite is the lemon and herb salmon. It depends on what mood I am in for the other entree.

The last course is DESSERT!!! I always get creme brulee and whatever else sounds good (the chocolate cake is excellent though).

Until next time,

Think beyond chicken fingers!

Shalimar November 2009...

One of my favorite restaurants is Shalimar. It is an Indian restaurant. There is something addictive about it. For an appetizer I get garlic naan bread. It is thin. It comes with some green sauce. I don't quite know what is in it, but I know it is good.
For an entree I get chicken Tikka Masala. This is the most addictive part of the meal. It comes with basmati rice, which is good for sopping up the yummy Tikka Masala sauce. The sauce is somewhat spicy, but it is so good. You can always order it on the mild side.
They have a unique drink there called a Mango Lassi. It's a deliciously smooth and creamy fruit drink. I'm usually so full that I don't want a big dessert. They give you a crunchy sesame candy after the meal, and it is really good and different.
The staff is very freindly and helpful.
I highly recommend that you give Shalimar a try soon.

Until next time, think beyond chicken fingers.

Stoney River 11-09

My dad and I went out to dinner at Stoney River before attending the Guy Fieri Road Show at TPAC. For our appitizer we had homemade potato chips with blue cheese sauce.
You might think blue chese is gross, but it really isn't. It's just a little strong.
For my entree I had a steak. As my side I had caramalized onion mashed potatos. They were delicous! My dad had a deconstructed crab cake and fried lobster tail. It was a special. Stoney River is a great resturant!

Until next time, think beyond chicken fingers!

Hot Diggity Dogs 10-09...

Today I went to Hot Diggity Dogs. The building is very tiny. When you walk in you are greeted by the friendly staff of three.
Next, you are told about all of the hot dogs. After that you choose your dog. You can choose whether you want it steamed or grilled. I got a grilled Carobama. It has slaw, onions, chili, and mustard. They all went so good together! My dad got a classic Chicago dog that has relish, mustard, tomato, sport peppers, cucumber, pickle, and celery salt. He said he LOVED it.
As good as the dogs are, the french fries may be the star of the show! They are crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and they have just the right amount of salt.
Next time you're in downtown Nashville, you have to give this spot a try. It gets this critic's top rating (5 dogs!!!).
Until next time, think beyond chicken fingers!

Finezza Restaurant 10-09...

To celebrate our Fall break at school, we went to one of our favorite local Italian restaurants, Finezza. I'll tell you what we had, and how we all liked our food here.
We started with Italian soda and a nice, fresh loaf of bread, which came with Olive Oil, Fresh Parmesan, and Sun-dried tomato butter.
For our entrees we had the two pasta dishes pictured here. I had the Pasta Primavera with Alfredo, and my brother had the Flag of Italy Pasta with a creamy pesto sauce. They were both delicious and fresh tasting, and the portions were just the right size for a couple of hungry kids.
Our favorite thing to eat at Finezza is the daily cannoli special. In the past we've had Oreo, Heath Bar and a couple of others. Tonight the special cannoli was the M&M version. Yum!!!!! The mascarpone filling is always soft and delicious, and the M&M's and sauces were just great.
We love Finezza because of the great food and service. I highly recommend you give it a try.
Until next time, remember, think beyond chicken fingers!
